What's Rob doing on Sabbatical Part 2

After long debates, most of Rob's followers have pretty much ruled out rock climbing.

Rob spent a lot of time this year on his world travels so many suggestions came in...

This is what a large majority of people think Rob is doing...

 

Since we are talking about suites, stay tuned to see how some really cool technology that comes with suites can generate images like the previous one with very little effort.

Making it Real

Ok,

Now that we have created this concept, it won't be much good to Rob as a sketch.  Let's continue this journey and turn this concept sketch into a 3d model.

We are still using Product Design Suite.

I decided to use Inventor Fusion to construct the ax, primarily because Fusion is part of many suites, not just Product Design Suite.

Take a look at this next video to see how we can make it real with Inventor Fusion and Autodesk Inventor.

 

Did you know that a Fusion model is a .dwg file.

Yes, that means you can open it it Autocad, Inventor, and others.

The last part of the video showed the model in Inventor and some finishing touches were added..

At this point i have received several emails questioning whether Rob is rock climbing.

"Rob dosen't seem like the Rock Climbing type of guy..."

"Rob is definitely back in Nebraska relaxing with his family..."

Stayed tuned, we may have to switch gears and make some more predictions.

What's Rob doing on Sabbatical

Ok, lets try and figure out what Rob is doing.

This map shows a little something about Rob.  He is from Nebraska but now lives in Oregon.

 Ok, Rock Climbling it is...

Now Rob will need some equipment for rock climbing lets see how we can help out.

There has been a lot of talk about suites this year at Autodesk. We will use the Product Design Suite to help Rob out.

Take a look at some Rock Climbling Gear we came up with using Sketchbook Designer.

  

Sketchbook Designer combines both raster sketching and vector sketching.

During this video I am creating vector curves, but Sketchbook Designer makes them look like pencil lines.

These curves can also be manipulated afterward as you saw in the video.

Relief Pitcher for Rob

As many of you know, Rob is off on sabbatical.  I have always wondered what people do on sabbatical, and I hope to find out next summer for myself.

While Rob is away, I thought we could use Rob's blog as a way to try and figure out what he may be doing.

To guide us on this journey, we will use some Autodesk technology to try and figure this out.

At this point you may be wondering who this is?

My name is Michael Oakley, and I am a Technical Account Manager for the Autodesk Major Accounts Team.

I've been in this industry for over 20 years and have used all sorts of technology along the way.

Is an electric eraser and a "T" Square technology?

Anyway, stay tuned in over the next few weeks while we have some fun at Rob's expense.
